Common Questions
When do I set up my bank info?
Only after you earn your first referral. We text you a Stripe link at that point. Takes 2 minutes. No bank info needed at signup, ever.
When do I get paid?
Monthly on the 1st. Direct deposit via Stripe. Payouts start 30 days after your referral's first payment.
What if my referral cancels?
You stop earning for that one referral. Other referrals keep paying. We text you so you know.
Is there a cap on earnings?
No cap. 1 referral or 100. $97 per month per active referral. No limit.
What trades does Slate work with?
Almost any service-based contractor trade. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, cleaning, landscaping, garage door, pest control, locksmith, pool service, and many more.
How does Slate know who referred who?
Your link has your ID built in. When they click and book, you get the credit. If two partners share with the same person, whoever they clicked first gets it.
What about taxes?
You are an independent contractor. Stripe collects your W-9 info during onboarding (after first earned referral) and issues a 1099-K if you earn $600+ in a year. Slate does not withhold taxes. You handle your own reporting.
Do I have to be a Slate client?
No. Anyone can be a partner. Slate clients are auto-enrolled, but most partners are not Slate clients themselves.
